What Is Regenerative Injection Therapy?
Regenerative injections treat chronic or long-lasting pain occurring due to injuries that haven’t healed properly.
The damage can reside in any part of the musculoskeletal system, including within:
- Cartilage
- Joints
- Ligaments
- Muscles
- Tendons
- Nerves
Injections are composed of a natural solution, sometimes including the patient’s own plasma, and administered into the affected tissue. Regenerative injection therapy (RIT) has been shown to repair injured soft tissues with healing properties that encourage new, healthy tissue to form.
When soft tissues become compromised, the body will innately begin to self-heal, often bringing inflammation as a painful side effect. Many people turn to over-the-counter pain medication, opioids, or steroids that may reduce discomfort associated with inflammation but can also hinder the healing process.
Regenerative injections serve to heal the tissues by injecting a natural healing stimulant into the affected soft tissues without the need for harmful treatments or drugs.
Regenerative injections provide many benefits, including:
- Improved comfort
- Improved movement patterns and mobility
- Restored functional ability
- Improved muscle strength
The goal is to keep you away from surgery, pain-masking medications, and other aggressive forms of treatment that can offer their own set of risks.
Types of Regenerative Injection Therapies in St. Peters
Our team offers two proven, trusted, and safe regenerative injection therapies.
Stem Cell Injection Therapy
Stem cell injections are derived from Wharton’s Jelly of the human umbilical cord and donated to our facility. The jelly contains a high level of hyaluronic acid that provides lubrication, which supports proper mobility within the joints and tendons. It also has a significant concentration of growth factors that generate an anti-inflammatory response.
When injected into a patient’s tissues, pain is often quickly and effectively eliminated as tissue and joint health is repaired and re-established.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection Therapy
PRP therapy is another highly effective solution for chronic pain. The injections are produced from the patient’s blood and inserted into the injured part of the body to accelerate healing in damaged areas of the musculoskeletal system.
This type of therapy requires blood to be drawn from the patient so it can be properly separated. Then, the removed platelets will be combined with a blood plasma liquid base and readministered into the body.
By activating the concentrated platelets in platelet-rich plasma, growth factors are released, stimulating and increasing the number of reparative cells produced. This will significantly enhance the body's natural healing process.

Our Regenerative Injection Therapy Process
Before providing a detailed physical assessment, our medical team will discuss many factors with you, including your pain, health history, accidents, lifestyle, goals, and more. We will take digital X-rays to help ensure your candidacy for RIT if necessary.
Generally, each procedure takes under an hour from start to finish. For optimal results, most patients will need three injections, given two to four weeks apart. The first round of treatment uses either stem cell therapy or PRP, and the second and third series will use PRP.

What Our Patients Are Saying
"I have had knee pain for years due to an old injury and was anticipating surgery. Dr. Nick recommended I try the PRP injections. I had 2 injections about 8 weeks apart and my knee has never felt better. The constant pain and achiness is gone and as a matter of fact I just did a 196 mile bike ride on some very rough terrain with no pain during or after the ride. If you are having joint pain talk to Dr.Nick about PRP injections! The procedure is simple and painless."
-Lynn C.
"Had right knee pain for over a year. Tried everything I could think of to relieve it short of surgery. Talked with Dr. Nick about trying PRP injections. After 2 injections, I have been 9 months with zero knee pain!!!"
