What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shock wave therapy is an innovative method for treating pain, the treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive. Each treatment session is only 15-20 minutes, to be repeated over 4-6 sessions per region is the standard estimate depending on the patient and condition being treated.

Patients generally can feel first effects after treatment, pain reduction and relief is seen usually after a few treating sessions, with good treatment compliance.

What Does Shockwave Therapy Feel Like?

Patients may report feeling soreness and a thumping sensation when the treatment head passes over dysfunctional tissues. Patients report feeling very little discomfort when it actively travels over healthy tissue.

The level of discomfort depends on the area being treated, the settings on the device, and the acuity of the condition. Minor post-treatment soreness around the involved area is not uncommon.
